Early Signal
Guide

How can I tell if my body needs a rest day before I get exhausted?

A rest-day heads-up comes from several overnight signals agreeing against your own baseline—not from one tired feeling or one chart.

01What a rest-day heads-up looks like

On an Off from usual morning, Today shows the status, a short reason, and two or three low-risk rest suggestions, such as skipping hard training. Slightly off is a lighter ease-off. Typical means the night looked like you. Learning means the baseline is still forming, and no Off from usual alert is sent.

02Weighted agreement, not one bad night

The score looks for agreement across signals. Temperature and breathing lead when present. HRV and resting heart rate support. Sleep is context. One short night or one HRV dip should not become a push. Off from usual alerts are capped at one every 3 days.

03When context explains the night

A hard workout, travel, alcohol, or a short night you chose can move the same signals. Generic, non temperature-led patterns can show as Explained by context: you still see the status, and there is no push. Temperature-led results are not held back. How you feel still outranks the app.

Guide FAQ

01

Is Off from usual the same as being exhausted?

No. It means the overnight pattern is unusual for you. Many ordinary things can do that. The suggestion is a low-risk rest action, not a verdict about how you will feel.
02

What if I already feel exhausted and the app says Typical?

Trust how you feel. Early Signal is a wellness tool. It does not diagnose or treat disease, and it is not medical advice. Seek care for concerning or severe symptoms.
