HRV drops and a rest-day heads-up—what wearables can show
Heart rate variability often falls when stress load rises. Here is how Early Signal uses HRV as support—not a solo trigger.

01What HRV is in Apple Health
Apple Watch typically stores overnight HRV as SDNN samples. Early Signal aggregates those nights and builds a median/MAD baseline so one noisy night does not redefine normal.
02Support, not a solo trigger
A single HRV dip can mean many things. The scoring engine looks for weighted agreement across signals. Temperature and breathing lead when available; HRV and resting heart rate support; sleep adds context.
03Keeping alerts rare
Off from usual notifications are capped and conservative. You will still see morning status in-app even when a push is held back by cooldown or lifestyle context (Explained by context for generic, non temperature-led patterns).
