How accurate is Apple Watch wrist temperature?
Sleeping wrist temperature is a personal trend, not a clinical thermometer.

01What Apple measures
During sleep, compatible watches sample wrist temperature and surface how the night compares with your typical range in Health and in the Vitals app. Apple documents this as a sleeping wrist-temperature feature on Series 8 and later and on any Ultra—not as a forehead or oral thermometer.
02Why a delta beats an absolute number
Skin at the wrist moves with the room, bedding, cycle phase, and circulation. An absolute degree is a poor fever test. A change from your own recent nights is the signal Early Signal keeps: warmer or cooler than your baseline, never a clinical cutoff.
03What can look like a rise
Alcohol, a hard evening workout, a warm room, or a shifting cycle can warm the night without you feeling run down. Early Signal still wants agreement with other signals before Off from usual, and temperature-led results are not hidden behind generic context holds.
