## Using the app

### When can I download the app?

Early Signal is launching on iPhone. Join the waitlist on this site and we'll email you when it's on the App Store. Store links appear here when live — we never ship placeholder download buttons.

### Why does the app say “Learning”?

We need enough valid nights of HRV and resting heart rate before we can compare you to yourself. When you first open the app we also read nights already in Apple Health, so many people unlock a baseline immediately. Until then, no Off from usual alert is sent.

### Why does it say “No verdict today”?

If overnight HRV or resting heart rate didn’t sync, we won’t invent a confident status. The app names what’s missing and how to fix it—usually Watch fit overnight and Apple Health permissions.

### What do I need?

An iPhone on iOS 17+ and an Apple Watch that records overnight HRV. Wrist temperature needs Series 8 or later — without it, Temp is omitted from the ring and a footnote explains why. Respiratory rate works from Series 3. Grant Health access for wrist temperature, respiratory rate, HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, and workouts.

### Is Early Signal a medical device?

No. Early Signal is a wellness tool. It does not diagnose or treat disease, and it is not medical advice. Status levels describe personal deviations in overnight biometric baselines and suggest low-risk rest actions.

## Alerts and status

### Why didn’t I get an alert?

Alerts are conservative. Off from usual needs weighted agreement across signals—or a sustained overnight temperature rise vs your own baseline. We send at most one Off from usual alert every 3 days. Hard workout, travel, alcohol, or short sleep by choice can show generic Slightly off or Off from usual patterns as Explained by context (status in the app, no push). Temperature-led results are not held back. Slightly off pushes are Pro. You can pause alerts in Settings.

### Does this mean I’m going to feel unwell?

No. The app never claims that. In-app status says Typical, Slightly off, or Off from usual—or Explained by context after a workout or logged context. Many things can shift biometrics—stress, training, sleep, travel, alcohol, or feeling unwell. A status only says your pattern looks unusual for you.

### What does an “Off from usual” alert mean?

Off from usual means several overnight signals moved together versus your own baseline, or wrist temperature rose and stayed up versus you. The app suggests low-risk rest actions, such as skipping hard training. It does not diagnose or treat disease and is not medical advice. Pushes are capped at one every 3 days.

### What does “Explained by context” mean?

After a hard workout, travel, alcohol, or a short night you chose, a generic Slightly off or Off from usual pattern can show as Explained by context. You still see the status in the app. There is no push. Temperature-led results are not held back by that context.

## Health and data

### How do I disconnect Apple Health?

Open the Health app → Sharing → Apps → Early Signal, and turn off access. The app will show guidance if new samples stop arriving.

### How do I delete my data?

In the app: Settings → Delete all app data. That removes local metrics, assessments, check-ins, analytics, and scheduled notifications.

### What if I deny Apple Health access?

You can still continue. The app stays on the Health step with instructions: open Health → Sharing → Apps → Early Signal and allow the read types. Without access, Today cannot build a personal baseline until permissions are granted.

## Wearables and privacy

### Can an Apple Watch detect early signals of sickness?

An Apple Watch can record overnight changes in wrist temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate (RHR), and sleep. GetEarlySignal reads those samples from Apple Health and compares them with your own baseline. Slightly off or Off from usual means the pattern looks unusual for you. It is not a sickness detector, a diagnosis, or a prediction that you will feel unwell. If you feel sick or have severe symptoms, contact a clinician or emergency services.

### How does GetEarlySignal map my heart rate variability (HRV)?

GetEarlySignal reads overnight HRV from Apple Health, typically stored as SDNN. It builds a personal baseline with a median and a median absolute deviation from your own nights. HRV is a supporting signal. Wrist temperature and respiratory rate lead when the Watch has recorded them. An HRV drop alone does not set Off from usual, and it is not a diagnosis.

### Is my wearable health data secure in the GetEarlySignal app?

Health data stays on your iPhone. Scoring and storage are on-device, protected with iOS data protection. Apple Health access is read-only. There is no cloud account and no upload of biometric logs. Personal health metrics are not sold, not used for ads, and not used to train external AI or language models. You can delete all app data in Settings.

## Pro and extras

### Is there a subscription?

The morning warning is always free. Early Signal Pro is optional and adds a personal accuracy report, alert sensitivity, deeper trends and history, Slightly off pushes, a medium widget, and CSV export. Plans: $3.99/month, $24.99/year, or $49.99 lifetime. Pro is never auto-shown on an Off from usual morning — only on a calm Typical day or from Settings.

### Does it work offline?

Yes. Scoring and storage are on-device. Internet is not required to use the app.

### Does it have widgets?

Yes. Add the Today widget from the home screen gallery, plus lock-screen circular and rectangular options. They show your latest status (Typical, Slightly off, Off from usual, or No verdict today) and open the app when tapped. The medium widget with guidance is Pro. Widgets never read HealthKit themselves—they use a snapshot the app updates after each assessment.

### What does Early Signal Pro unlock?

The morning status, Off from usual alerts, 14-day trends, 30-day history, and small widgets stay free. Pro unlocks a personal accuracy report, custom alert sensitivity, Slightly off pushes, deeper history, a medium widget, and CSV export. Plans are $3.99 per month, $24.99 per year, or $49.99 lifetime.
